Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill

Another stunning historical landmark for your bucket list but whilst inside it is somewhat interesting, it actually looks better from the outside, but that’s what you get when you try and rebuild some of it. My children did the tour of the colosseum floor and said it was good, but a little rushed.

Obviously you will want to visit the Colosseum if you are in Rome. The purpose of this review is to vent on the horrible treatment we received from their staff. We booked a tour which would allow us to go under the Colosseum to see where the gladiators stayed as well as the floor. The tour company booked these tickets on our behalf and made the mistake of putting their email address next to the names of each person in our group instead of our own email addresses. There is a separate entrance for the people doing the underground tours and they have a list of all of the people who are allowed in there. Because our personal email addresses were not on the list with our names, our group of 12 people was denied entry into the Colosseum. They had our exact names and we all had our passports to prove those were us, but the staff refused to grant us access and were very rude when we were trying to talk with them. We also had copies of the entry tickets that the tour company forwarded to us, but they refused to look at them and were pretty aggressive when talking to us. We never raised our voices or were disrespectful, but they were extremely rude and uncaring the whole time. They acted the whole time as if we were trying to scam them. The tour had to be cancelled because of this. Luckily we were eventually refunded our money, but we had to buy general admission tickets and go around on our own with no context, which was made worse by the way we were treated.

A must visit point in your trip to Rome. If you’re visiting in the summer buy your tickets as early as possible because of the heat. Do not come in sandals or flip flops, you will not be allowed in. Also with your ticket go and visit the forum that is next to it and it is included in the ticket.

You will definitely want to see the Colosseum while in Rome. Don't just see it from the outside, make sure you go in! This is a spectacular attraction to admire the wonderful architecture.

Very good experience with small group guided by knowledgeable guide. Must visit to know why it was built and how performance were done.

You cannot visit Rome without stopping at the incredible Colosseum. It’s truly breathtaking, being there feels incredibly surreal. I bought a ticket via GetYourGuide and went mid morning. It was pretty busy but not hellishly so. BE AWARE: you need ID to get in. Luckily, I had my passport on me. Once in there, it’s nice and cool, and there are plenty of signs and things to look at. There were also places to stop and sit, and I noticed a ‘Toddler Respite Area’ which would be handy if you were travelling with small children. You just walk all the way around, so easy to navigate too. I did not get the all access pass that lets you walk all over the arena floor and I wished I had - I’ll have to come back! I was there for a couple of hours and by the time I was leaving, it was starting to get unpleasantly busy, so I was glad I came at the time I did.

Wow. If you go early enough, buy your tickets there, otherwise online. Crowds are huge but moved fairly efficiently.

The Colosseum is one of those places that truly lives up to its reputation. Seeing it in person was breathtaking—the scale, the architecture, and the history are simply incredible. Walking through the ancient structure, I could almost imagine the gladiator battles and the energy that once filled the arena. As a traveler, I found this to be one of the most inspiring places in Rome. Every stone tells a story, and the views from different levels are spectacular. I recommend visiting early in the morning or with a guided tour to better understand its fascinating past. The crowds can be heavy, but the experience is absolutely worth it. The Colosseum is a masterpiece of history and a must-visit for anyone coming to Rome.

Great experience in Rome, viewing colosseum

Amazing to see but slightly annoying it’s so hard to get underground and arena floor tickets. Still amazing to see and well worth the entrance price.

Impressive history and artefacts, but no real context of what it was all about. Very busy and limited toilets available, catch the metro for easy access. Don't be early they won't let you in till your allowed time slot.

Booked through Get Your Guide Our Tour Guide missed the entrance time to the Colosseum after spending too long on the surrounding grounds, genuine mistake. However it did mean we then had to queue for a ticket to the colosseum, in the blistering heat, and pay for it ourselves. Our tour guide was not allowed to finish the tour with us so we were left without a guide and our headphones were removed. We were told we would be reimbursed when home, however Get Your Guide are not honouring this and will only offer a part refund which includes part refund for the additional ticket purchase. Very poor service. Will not use again and advise others to avoid.

Incredible piece of history, get the right guide, the details ours shared made all the difference. We used Crown Tours, they were organized knowledgeable and we were able to skip the line. And their radio system actually worked unlike the guides we used at the Vatican. Well worth the visit.

No doubt at all that this is an important and impressive historical site. Booking of tickets was very confusing…upon arrival it became evident that ourselves and brother & sister in law had tickets for different parts of the site. The white entry tents were not marked so nobody knew where to queue. Visitor beware….you will not be allowed to enter without photo ID and the name on your tickets must match exactly with the name on your ID (no shortened names) the entry staff were unhelpful, dismissive and abrupt.

Such a famous site, so I had to go. The very old stadium is located inside Rome, and has incredible archeological sites in it. I went, and was immediately struck by tourists and vendors, but when I went inside, the sites were beautiful. I saw many old seats and places to enter the arena, before heading out to the viewing deck. I saw the arena but didn’t have tickets to the underground nor the attic unfortunately. My favorite part though, was definitely the park, which was amazing. The only part that loses a star is the heat, which made it almost unbearable. Other than that, one of the biggest highlights of my trip to Rome, would definitely recommend visiting it!
