“St. Peter’s Basilica is more than an architectural masterpiece—it’s a place where history, faith, art, and human genius come together in an extraordinary way. Whether you’re religious or not, it’s impossible not to be moved by its beauty and its atmosphere. From Michelangelo’s magnificent dome to Bernini’s breathtaking design, every detail reflects centuries of dedication and artistic excellence. Standing inside, you feel incredibly small, yet deeply connected to something much greater than yourself. Take your time. Look beyond the marble and the gold. Listen to the silence, admire the craftsmanship, and appreciate the countless stories hidden within its walls. St. Peter’s Basilica isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. A true masterpiece of humanity.”

I couldn’t come to the Vatican without visiting St Peter’s Basilica and all I can say is…wow. Stunning doesn’t begin to cover it, it genuinely is something words cannot describe. You could spend a couple of hours in here, just soaking it in, I reckon. I went sort of mid-afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by how short the queue was and how quickly it moved, security was very efficient. The Basilica itself did not feel too crowded. Remember to check out all the papal graves underneath the church. I would also recommend paying the extra €10 to climb the dome as well, for a different perspective of the Basilica. You can’t miss this if you’re in Rome.

Lovely experience walking around the Basilica as a raised but non practising Catholic. Opted to do the Dome via stairs but please do not attempt if you are even a tiny bit claustrophobic, it was a very discombobulating experience walking between the shells of the Dome in a very narrow slanting passage, nearly had a full on panic.

Laura’s knowledge, and passion for Rome made our visit exceptional. We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn from her and experience the Basilica through her eyes.

Truly amazing experience. As others have already stated, there is so much to see and learn that it becomes overwhelming in a few hours let alone one day. For individuals that appreciate history and architecture, this is a must see in Roma. I would highly recommend for your first visit to do one of the early morning tours. We used "What a Life Tours" and we were in a small group of 8. We were able to arrive early into the Vatican and explore Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. The Basilica is awe-inspiring and architecturally beautiful - photos do not capture the experience.

Was lovely to go to the area of Saint Peter’s Basilica and see the lovely architecture. We hadn’t booked tickets to go into the Basilica and it was such a hot day with absolutely massive cues. We decided not to go inside. We just walked all the way round outside., there were still lots of cool things to see. If I were returning, I would book tickets in advance and to get ones where you jump the queue. If you don’t like crowds, then you wouldn’t enjoy this place.
