Me and my family travelled to Rome last week and decided we wanted to do a hop on hop off bus tour to take us to the Vatican. We spoke with a "salesman” who stands outside the colosseum and asked various questions. We only had limited time as we were leaving the next day and it was already the afternoon. We asked if there was a discounted option as it was the afternoon, he told us there was not. We asked what time the buses finish as it was already passed 4, he told us there was plenty of time as the busses don’t stop until 8 and there are plenty of busses. We then asked if the bus goes to the Vatican as that’s the only place we haven’t seen, he assured us it drops us right outside. The bus stop outside the colosseum wasn’t in use so we had to walk 20 minutes to the nearest one. We then had to wait over 30 minutes for the bus taking us past 5 o’clock now to be told that the last bus is 6.20 and that they only have 2 running. We got off at the stop for the Vatican to find it was still a 20 minute walk from the stop. We had a quick look around to try and get back for the last bus. We were at the stop before 6.20, at 6.30 the last bus came, didn’t stop and drove straight passed us all in the queue. We then had to walk 45 minutes back to our hotel. We didn’t want to pay for a taxi as we had just paid €102 for a 10 minute bus ride. The people clearly take advantage of unsuspecting tourists like ourselves.

The upside was that we only had to pay for 1 person , due to the fact of my imobility problems and being a senior citizen. Downside was that the busses park or stop very far frim tourist spots , which onvolves a lot of walking. Which was no good. Take the city busses instead, which drops you off in close proximity to the sights , with minimum of tear and wear on weak limbs.

A great way to see the city and get off where we wanted to go. There were multiple stops and multiple buses to accomodate us.

Absolutely terrible, don't waste your money. Not enough buses, which don't come every 14 minutes as stated. Letting random people on not in line

The pink hop on hop off bus was ok. The narration was good. But once you hopped off it took 30-40 minutes waiting for the bus. The Big Bus Rome was much nicer.
