We always enjoy the hop on/off because we can ride around town and then decide what we want to stop and see. This was the same. They have a pre recorded guide telling you what we were seeing, where others had a person telling us which I prefer as the recording wasn’t on track where we were and we couldn’t figure out many times what they were referring to. But otherwise it was a nice way to get around a very busy hectic city.

I do not recommend Big Red Bus for hop-on/hop-off tours. They hawk tickets at every stop, emphasizing sales over customer experience. There are far too many ticket holders for the number of busses they send around, particularly in the rain, which is often in London. We missed Tower of London because there were WAY too many people waiting at the stop and we knew we wouldn’t catch another bus any time soon.

We had read the reviews and decided NOT to do a Hop on and HOP off bus tour in Rome and wished we had stuck to our guns. Our hotel front desk talked us into buying day a 1 day pass and it was on the Greenline which I think is VIator. It was horrible. We had a brochure but it was difficult to find the stop. It was horrifically crowded and the driver insisted on making announcements on a hopelessly defective PA speaker we couldn't understand a word. We abandoned half way through and it was wasted money and effort. We wished we had tried the red bus double decker and it might have been better, but may be a wash either way. This was a regret for us.

Ma davvero! The most historic city in the world and you spend your time at the bus stops listening to classic music. Do not waste your money - walk the city and use WikiPedia - you’ll be better off and still have some money.
