Pompeii waoh! We certainly felt the hand of history on our shoulders while visiting this amazing site. Three hours of walking on a hot summer day. Grateful to our guide Desiree for leading the way, mapping out a comprehensive tour that included everything worth seeing. Stunning architecture, marvellous ruins, enjoyed stepping into the houses and shops from two thousand years ago. Immaculately preserved and restored by experts. Expensive admission pricing!

Best Site in Southern Italy 🇮🇹. Another thing these is a once in lifetime experience. Also don’t miss the Roman Pools . Lastly, the bathhouse is amazing 🤩.

We were late because of the train so we only had about 45 minutes. But, Luca did an amazing job. I recommend a guide if you can because they take you to the most important places and give you special touches.

This is an amazing place to visit but it is not really wheelchair friendly. There is a designated route that wheelchair users can access but so can the general public and its very busy! You are wheeling over cobbles and the paths are not very wide. I'm not saying there needs to be separate routes but the ones that are available need to be accessible for all. There are ramps in places which is great but they sometimes take you to dead ends. We explored a lot but didn't see it all. It is a huge place. I believe there is a cafe at the top of one of the lanes but it is on an incline so we didn't go that far! Toilets are at the entrance and at the cafe. Make sure you have water with you. The cafe's and restaurants in the actual main town of pompeii are expensive and some don't even have menu's with prices.

For me it was a big disappointment to realize that big statues which you can see online are not actually there. The others were tiny. Expectations vs reality kind of thing. To watch ruins at +40 it’s really not worth it.

So rude staff. Don’t even think about popping back to your car if you’ve forgot anything. I was give 5 minutes even though we hadn’t left the entrance stile. I had to go to Customer Services to argue for 10 minutes. It’s as you expect once you’re in and worth the visit. However if you have any sort of mobility issues then be wary. Also if you don’t like heat don’t go in August as there is virtually no shade and it’s huge. Parking opposite was €20.

All I can say is outstanding. A must visit for anyone that would like to learn a little more about world history. If you don't visit on a tour or buy your ticket in advance, then you may have to wait in line for a while to purchase tickets and enter. It does take more than one day to see everything but if you only have one day it should be enough to see the highlights. Parking is on the street if you find it or in lots of a straight fee.

We booked our timed tickets online and took the train from Rome. Easy to arrange on your own. Very important so will mention it first - Pompeii is hot! Bring a refillable water bottle and a cooling towel for your neck. There are many places where you can fill up the bottle and rewet the towel. As you refill the bottle, you may suddenly feel like you could have been there 2000 years ago doing the exact same thing at the exact same stone basin. Pompeii is massive. We used the issued map and matching audio tour. It was great. Yes, hiring an archaeologist guide would have been better but since we wanted our visit to be well over 2 hours (we were there over 4 hours,) it wasn't an option. If you ask them, the people you get the map and audioguide from will mark the best locations on the map depending on the duration of your stay. We absolutely could have stayed longer. The frescoes, mosaics, fountains, body casts, horse skeletons, signage, homes, baths, stores, brothels, we could go on and on. Absolutely unbelievable. This is not a site you can just go in and do without a guidebook, audioguide, or tour guide. If you go in without one of these things, you are going to miss so much of what is there. Oh, the site itself had audioguides. It is NOT the same as the audioguides you can rent just outside the gates. We cannot advise which is better. This is absolutely a Not-to-be-Missed site. Bring your water bottle, your sunscreen, your cooling towel, and good footwear. We were there during one of Europe's terrible 'heat domes' and that towel made a huge difference.

Been wanting to go to Pompeii for years and booked our holiday around it In Sorrento We caught the train on the hottest day in August no air conditioning it was awful . When we got to the station people sent us in the right direction up two flights of stairs for our App vouchers off to Pompeii site Got to the ticket entrance to gr debt back to another office to change that voucher to a ticket By this point it and me were getting hotter and hotter!!! We decided to go our own way without a guide as my mobility isn’t great and wanted to take it slow Anyway we enjoyed what we saw but got very lost a few times My main main is lack of English signage On the way out we ask directions and we’re told wrong twice .Ww ended up up and down a very hit and crowded street a few times signage making no sense. Once out the park we ended up in the wrong part for out train back to Sorrento Be aware there are 2 sides For Sorrento or Naples and up a very big hot hill very crowded station and trains with no air conditioning and no staff who actually care about their tourists Glad I went but wouldn’t bother to and see the rest

We visited Pompeii in the middle of summer with a half day tour. The tour ensured we moved through quickly but it also meant we missed four entire sections of the site. The history of the site is phenomenal and worth the visit. If we did not have a tour guide we would have spent an entire day at the site. It was quite busy even for a hot summer day. Bring lots of water as there are no filling stations in the site.

Simply amazing, incredible how this immense town has survived pretty much intact for nearly 2000 years. Quite moving when you see the prone bodies frozen in time and to see things like the bakery, still with its oven and milling machines or the brothel with its raunchy pictures, the mosaics, the kitchen work tops, I could go on and on. Wear good shoes and expect to be hot but most of all expect to be amazed. A must do.

Utterly amazing. We took a guided tour around Pompeii and it was breathtaking. Our guide was excellent and time flew by. We did the early tour and it was hot. It felt impossible to try and navigate it by ourselves.

Don't buy tickets in this website. They sell vivatickets for pompei but don't inform you about young people discount till after you have paid. They charge you 25€ instead of 3,5€ for young ones. Don't use this page!!!

Enjoyed Villa Dei Misteri and found some of the ruins interesting. The preserved mosaics were beautiful. Did not book a guided tour which really made finding things around the park difficult. Signposting on site is poor and the whole experience felt very chaotic due to huge numbers of tourists in groups. Paid a lot of money for our entry tickets and we did not receive the audio guide as booked, despite booking from official site. We spent almost 4 hours here and could not find parts we wanted to see due to lack of directions and information . Some parts felt very restored, however, others were amazing so I don't regret the visit. The site itself is huge , an entire city with intact streets . I would advise to book a guided tour if visiting . To be honest, I would not return. Pompeii town itself was pleasant but far too crowded.

What a wonderful experience. You could spend so much time exploring the area and you would still never see it all. The history and story behind Pompeii is just fascinating. The Grand Theatre was simply amazing. The construction and also destruction on such a massive scale is mind blowing. Found the admission very reasonable for such a great attraction. The Commission of Elections had such an atmosphere around you could picture yourself there before the destruction happened. Well worth the visit. Staff also very helpful.

I knew that the area was really big but I didn't image so big !! Be sure to have comfortable shoes to walk more than 2/4 hours to have a complete experience of one of the most beautiful places I've never seen.
