We visited the Colosseum with pre-booked tickets. The visit was really good, as the monument is impressive, so it was definitely worth the price. Disappointingly, it was extremely crowded, making it difficult to take photos without other visitors in the background. However, we really enjoyed the experience, and I recommend visiting the Colosseum if you’re planning a trip to Rome.

Super hot tour in the heat. Paid for a tour guide through Getyourguide but he was a bit too erratic so we broke away. Two hours was enough (interesting artefacts and models to see in the interior museum) Be aware- sun tan sprays may be seized at X-ray machine!

The Colosseum was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome. Seeing it from the outside is impressive, but walking through the different levels and looking down into the arena made the history feel much more real. The admission fee felt reasonable for such an important site, and we spent around two and a half hours exploring. It was crowded, but the timed entrance kept things fairly organized. Staff were professional and helpful during the ticket and security checks. The atmosphere was fascinating, although there is limited shade and quite a lot of walking. Best for history lovers, couples, families with older children and anyone visiting Rome for the first time.

The Colosseum is one of those places where the scale makes much more sense once you’re inside. The upper level is especially useful for getting a better look across the structure and understanding how the different parts fit together. I wouldn’t treat it as a quick photo stop from outside. Leave enough time for the Roman Forum and Palatine as well, since they add a lot of context and make the whole visit feel more complete.

I booked a transfer from an apartment in Soho to LaGuardia Airport (Terminal B) for an early morning flight. The driver parked outside 15 minutes ahead of schedule, which saved me a lot of stress before my flight. The car was a fresh, spacious sedan with the climate control set perfectly. We made it there surprisingly fast. I can confidently recommend this service.

The colosseum is an amazing experience. To walk around on the outside there is no cost. However, to inside, there is a fee. Having a tour guide does provide a wealth of additional information and insight. The length of the visit depends on whether you are just walking around the outside (30 minutes) or taking a tour from within (a couple of hours). The colosseum is crowded and when it is hot out, it becomes even hotter with all the bodies. Highly encourage doing a tour of the Colosseum early in the morning to avoid the heat. Observing the Colosseum at night also provides quite the site. This is an exceptional opportunity for anyone visiting Rome for the first time, for people who enjoy architecture and people who enjoy history.

We went to 1. And 2. Floor and they were totally overcrowded. I could see to the attic part amd there was almost noone. Plus, because it is higher, you will get better views on the city.

My husband was able to score tickets for the summer night tour of the Colosseum. It was perfect. I can’t imagine being able to enjoy it during the day in this heat wave. It was so cool to be able to go underground and be so close to ancient history.

You can’t visit Rome and not go and see the Colosseum. Probably the easier wonder of the world to see. Relatively cheap to visit if you get the basic ticket which you get to see and walk through most of the sights. Or extra if you want to go to the underground and floor plate. I highly suggest booking an early time slot as it’s pretty cool still (compared to midday) it’s all less busy, it’s still manic but again not like it would be in the afternoon. This also give you the full day to enjoy other parts of Rome.
