Scam. Went on a tour of the island and surrounds. the grotto is run by locals or the mafia. wait and the jump in the little boat. was advertised as 15 euro then the tour said its 18 euro but when we got to the mafia operators it was 19 euro. The grotto operator advises the process and when done we give him tip, custom tip is 10 euro per person. so that's 40 euro for the boat...... People get tips when it's good service, shouldn't be suggested either. I watched another lady pay the grotto by card and she copped it when she didn't have any money for a tip. she had a coin (1 euro) and he flicked her hands at her in discuss. in and out in a hole singing but felt like extortion ceremony and took 2 minutes. $200 aud this 2min exercise cost. save your money, not worth it.

Honestly the grotto was amazing and beautiful, a once in a lifetime experience. The only issue I had that literally ruined the whole experience was my boat guide. He gave off weird vibes and insisted I get on his boat then made me sit in front of him. The guys are barefoot and his toe was lightly grazing my private area, then he proceeded to move his foot more into that area. I could only scooch myself out of the position after we made it into the cave. I was quite literally in pain and then we had to tip him 5 euro. It’s been almost a year and I remember that experience very clearly.

Long wait, demanding driver, asking for tip of 20 euros for a 5 min experience, waste of time never again.

DONT GO!!! Not worth it. Completely Overestimated. We waited 1 hour 40 minutes to get in. The whole in and out takes 10 min max!! There is NO organization. Many boats and no queue. The priority is for the official company that runs the cave. So if you go on a private tour you will enter whenever they decide. And waiting time even for the official tour is huge. People arguing, shouting. 😵‍💫 Capri has other great places!

A very rude man demanded again and again a 10€ per person tip. So 19€+19€+10€+10€=58,00 € for 3 minutes. We gave no tip as we had already paid 38€ for 2 persons for an experience we did not really like. We was waiting and demanding his tip and then he insulted us in front of the rest of the group. These people should not be working there. Totally overpriced.

Wife and four other friends purchased tickets to the Blue Grotto at the main office where we alighted from our boat. Can recall the price but it was a disgrace. We wanted to go to the Grotto so wore the price. Once we arrived at the Grotto, we had to take a small row boat operated by local people. There was an added extra cost we were advised of 18 Euro. The rower took us to a cashier. The price on the dek was 19 Euro. 13 Euro for the entrance fee and 6 Euro (apprently for taxes). We paid the 18 Euro per person and was given a receipt of 13 Euro ONLY. We all can assume who the recipients of the 6 Euro we to!! The M word comes into mind. We went into the Grotto. Did only two little rounds of the small size Grotto then exited. The rower took us to our transport boat and then had the cheek to ask for a 10 Euro tip (stuff that!) We paid enough already. Overall, it was a very disappointing tour that was not worth the money we paid at all. I dont recommend anyone doing this tour.

This is an absolutely can't miss experience when visiting the Amalfi Coast. We went as part of a group tour, which helped us get to the Grotto early enough that the line to get in wasn't too long. We were also extremely fortunate that the weather and water conditions allowed us to enter. Be forewarned. The wait can be long and your time inside the grotto is only a few minutes. And you have to lay flat in a rowboat through a small, dark passageway to get there. But it's well worth the effort and cost. The stunning blue water, which reflects throughout the entire grotto, is like nothing I've ever seen before. Make sure to take as many pictures as you can, because it's the only way to accurately describe the natural beauty of the place to your friends once you get home!

The guy 'helping' me out of the boat gripped my arm and yanked me out. Completely unnecessary and left a bruise on my wrist. I almost dropped my bag in the water too.

We did the Blue Grotto on a tour to Capri. The tour itself was fabulous and we got to do everything on our list for the island so this is not a review of the tour itself but wanted to let others know of the experience we had with the man handling our boat. We were helped in, and told where to sit ready to lie down when we were to enter the cavern. This depends of the rower and to evenly distribute the weight. We were then quickly rowed to a nearby boat collecting money. As ours was part of a tour we didn't have to pay again, it was already paid for and we received our ticket, no problems there. We then got in line to enter the cave, lay down as expected and entered. It is stunning, the water very blue, appearing as if by magic as the darkness is illuminated by the blue water. You are literally in there for a couple of minutes before exiting, The man rowing didn't sing inside the grotto, some do, but no worries on that, not gonna ruin my day if he doesn't sing! Once outside however he held the boat back from the small landing area where our guide was waiting and blatantly demanded a tip. My partner gave him €5, we had already paid, we're in there for one lap, a couple of minutes at most, (the whole experience from getting in his boat to getting out again took about 8 minutes) he looked super disgusted and for a moment I thought he wasn't going to take us back, he shoved the note into a pocket on his shorts, he rowed us back but didn’t offer to help anyone out of the boat. At the time, I didn't know that this was a common thing. and obviously I can only comment on our experience but it kind of leaves a sour taste in your mouth. By my reckoning he doesn't do his job for free, so any tips are extras. €5 for 8 minutes work sounds like a winner to me! The rudeness certainly spoils the experience.

I know the Blue Grotto is considered a must-do in Capri, but for us, it was honestly overrated. Getting into the small rowboats felt chaotic and extremely rushed. They put four people in our boat, which was not very comfortable, and you have to lie down very low to enter the grotto. Once we got inside, my first thought was actually, “This is it?” Looking straight ahead, it mostly looked dark. It wasn’t until we turned and looked back toward the entrance that we saw the beautiful glowing blue water you see in all the photos. The blue really is beautiful, but there were probably around 10 other little boats inside at the same time, so instead of feeling peaceful or magical, it felt crowded and very touristy. You’re moved in and out so quickly that there’s barely time to take it in. The tipping experience also left a bad taste in our mouths. My husband initially tried to give our rowboat operator €10 total, and he yelled that it was supposed to be €10 per person. Being pressured for a specific tip after already paying for the experience made the whole thing feel even more transactional. I’m glad we can say we saw the Blue Grotto, and the blue water itself is definitely unique, but I wouldn’t personally go out of my way to do it again. Something I expected to feel magical ended up feeling rushed, chaotic and overly touristy.

Don't spend your hard earned money on this experience, its not worth it... Complete tourist trap, unfortunately :(

It is a tourist trap for sure. hundreds of people lined up outside for a row boat to pick you up. The inside was smaller and they row you around a few times in a circle then back out. This has been built up by tourist, but it is just ok.

We showed up for our tour and was told the grotto was closed due to weather. Our confirmation shows a full refund for cancellations due to weather so we didn’t think much of it. We then get a call from the manager there will be no refund (we paid $560!). Unacceptable… that is STEALING. I later looked online and read the grotto was open all day!!!!! Scammers!!!!

The Blue Grotto is absolutely awesome! This was my favorite thing on my trip. It is time consuming but worth the wait. I highly recommend going to the Blue Grotto.

Tourist trap and scam, extremely overrated and overpriced. We took an one hour boat tour around the Capri island for €25 with the optional stop at Blue Grrotto . The tour was nice and reasonably priced. Next, we decided to visit "very famous " Blue Grotto. We had to switch to a small boat with a rower to get in. We had to buy a separate ticket because Blue grotto is a "natural phenomenon and a fee needs to be paid." We were charged 18 euros per ticket, despite price on the receipt stating only 12 euros. The boat ride into the cave last about 4 minutes. Extremely overcrowded. After we got out of the cave, the rower was demanding a tip and gave us an attitude and unpleasant look for €1 tip € 36 questionable entrance fee plus greedy attitude. I wouldn't recommend the Blue Grotto experience- not worth the time and money.

This experience was amazing! We did a yacht tour with family and friends, and as we were heading to the island of Capri, we stopped here in the Blue Grotto, and it was definitely worth it. It was a gorgeous site to see, especially for people who love taking pictures. Also the hostess, Georgia and boat driver Marco, were so nice and helpful! Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the company we booked with, but the4 name of the boat was Doris. We would definitely come back!

The blue grotto was on our tick list. We arrived early and we're one of the first groups to get aboard the small boats. The grotto was nice but we were only in it for max. 60 seconds. Our rower/ pilot still managed to mention a tip three times. All a bit underwhelming 😔

We did this as part of a Capri tour. This meant the tour guides were fantastic at managing the queue and getting us there for the right time. Definitely NOT WORTH paying £££ if only planning to do this. It was a pleasant 10 minutes but I would not have been happy if I’d queued for hours to do it.

The Blue Grotto is beautiful and definitely worth seeing, but visitors should be aware of a serious safety issue. If you are seated in the back of the rowboat, the boatman repeatedly lets go of the chain he uses to pull the boat, and it can swing back and hit the passenger in the face. This happened during our visit and it was extremely dangerous. The boatmen should be much more careful and ensure passengers are not at risk of being struck by the chain. Such a simple precaution could prevent a serious injury. I hope the operators address this issue before someone gets badly hurt.

Absolutely terrible and frightening experience. I visited with my boyfriend and, from the moment we boarded, something felt off. The boat operator asked the other couple to get in first, then positioned us facing him. As we entered the grotto, his foot repeatedly made contact with my intimate area. At first, I convinced myself it must have been accidental—especially as my boyfriend was sitting right behind me. But the contact continued throughout the entire trip, getting increasingly closer and moving/rubbing his foot on me repeatedly. I felt trapped, I was on a tiny boat and couldn’t move. I couldn’t wait to get off the boat. Looking back, I wish I had taken a photo of him. The incident left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and upset. We had another boat tour around Capri afterwards, but the experience had already ruined the day. When I told my boyfriend what had happened, it understandably affected him as well, and we spent much of the time afterwards in silence trying to process it. To make matters worse, the boat rower then insisted on receiving a tip from my boyfriend, specifying that he wanted banknotes rather than coins. Please be extremely cautious and avoid this boat service. Based on my experience, I did not feel safe, and I would be particularly concerned for women travelling alone or with others. I would never recommend this trip to anyone. Overpriced, unsafe and risk of sexual assault. Looking at reviews since this incident, there are other women who have shared similar. I only wish I had read these first.

Overpriced and seems to be run by The Mafia, 19€ per person to the Grotto and entry and then the rower expects another 10€per person to row in and out of the grotto.

Waited 1.5 hours to get on one of the wee boats, trip lasted approximately 5 mins and was uncomfortable as have to lie down on hard rowing boat to get through entrance to cave. Was nothing special just a cave with very blue water due to the sunlight. The guys rowing the boat sing cheesy Italian songs like it’s a romantic Venice gondola experience which it isn’t. They then demand a tip for the service in addition to the rip off 18 euro per person. They can’t get you on and off quick enough, production line to fleece tourists.
