Galleria Borghese: Skip-the-Line-Tickets

Though very small but has an excellent collection Admission fee was reasonable but English speaking guided tour groups can be made little more flexible. Audio Guide were not of much help . Time we were given is just a bit inadequate. They extended their best co operation for wheelchair assistance, though being an old building, genuinely had their limitations. But it was managed well.

Visited here on a trip to Rome, as I had been promised it was a must-see. I walked from the city centre and it was a lot further out than I had thought. I was wandering little residential streets, sure I couldn’t be going the right way and then suddenly, there it was. The staff are very strict here and not especially polite. I had to leave my bag in the cloakroom, even though it was tiny, just about big enough for my phone, money and lip balm and then I ended up losing my cloakroom ticket (because I had no bag or pockets to put it in) and staff made no secret of how annoyed they were at me for that. Arrived early, so went to the cafe, asked for an iced coffee. The man made me a regular coffee in a mug with ice cubes in it?? Anyway, museum itself is stunning. So well curated, incredibly masterpieces everywhere you look, each and every detail is a work of art, from the floor to the ceilings. Only but I didn’t like was a lady shouting at me for trying to take a self timer photo :( the perils of being a solo traveller. Overall, worth a visit, art is spectacular, but staff are a little rude.

We’ve traveled in 50-plus countries on 5 continents, and visited a lot of sumptuous palaces, but we’ve never seen an exuberance of sculpture/art/architecture like this. No need for a spoon-fed tour — it all speaks splendidly for itself.

Don't miss this if you have the time but tickets sell out quickly. If you can't get one from the museum then get a tour from a third party operator. Galleria is small but the pieces are exquisite. The surrounding park you can rent some tandem bikes and ride around for an hour if you want to get here early.

We booked the English tour at 5pm which was excellent. The tour guide was very informative. Two hours is just enough to complete the tour and circle back around to focus on the areas you enjoyed. After the chaos of the Vatican museums, this gallery was a welcome place of calm to explore some beautiful works of art. Definitely worth a visit!

We bought tickets on the official website as soon as the date opened because they sell out so quickly. We chose the guided English tour. The entries are timed and they are serious about it (for entry only. unfortunately.) Unless they are tiny, no bags are allowed (ie: backpacks, handbags, shopping bags. They provide lockers.) The Bad: The people at the ticket desk were surly and apathetic. Despite the timed entry and the over-the-speakers announcements that people on a certain entry time must now leave as their time was up, the gallery is quite crowded; annoyingly so. We chose the last tour of the day so the crowds would lessen as the tour went along. While the tour did explain quite a bit and showed us things we would have missed if we did this on our own, it felt rushed, especially passing by some of the favorite items much too quickly. The guide did not speak clearly and was difficult to understand, especially over the voices of all the people trying to make themselves heard over the noise of all the other people trying to make themselves heard. The crowd control theory behind the timed entry model is completely useless due to the massive amount of people they allow in and the lack of enforcement of getting overstayers out. The Excellent: Don't miss the Caravaggios, the Raphaels, and the Berninis. They are worth every second you spend, every penny you paid, and every frustration experienced by you due to influencers and people who park themselves in front of the artwork for extensive amounts of time and not allow others their chance to view it clearly. You will absolutely leave feeling overwhelmed at how much a great artist can make stone look lifelike with real flesh and bone and how another can make deep, heavy black such an exquisite thing in a painting. We had time at the end of the tour to return to a few of the things we really wanted to spend some time with. I would advise getting the first tour of the day to keep the crowds to a minimum as the last tour was still too crowded. They claim it is limited to 360 people at a time but since they do not enforce the exit time, the rooms are packed. I would also not do another guided tour due to this problem.

Absolutely stunning artworks. The sculptures are crazy. A lot of people miss this gallery.

This collection is a "can't miss"! I never buy the huge museum book in the gift shop, until this one! We could have gone back multiple times and enjoyed it just as much. We will definitely go again on our next trip.
