This is definitely one of the best museums in Rome. In fact, it is one of my favorites. Nothing beats its collection of sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and paintings by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. They are simply breathtaking! Compared with other museums in the city, this one is relatively small, with only two floors of galleries to explore. Most of the masterpieces are on the ground floor. The pinacoteca or paintings gallery occupies the upper floor. Be sure to take the lift to go to the second floor, unless you prefer to take the 81-step staircase.
Access to the museum is quite complicated. Bookings must be done in advance. No walk-ins allowed. I suggest that you buy your ticket from the museum's official website. Second and third parties charge exuberant price, around three times more than the normal price!
Some rooms were closed when I visited the place. Some works of art are also undergoing restoration. However, to enjoy the items on display, you may avail of an audio guide or join guided tours. I would not recommend the second option. The first one is better since it gives you more time to explore the museum at your own pace.
To reach the site, you may take the public bus, the taxi, or simply walk across Villa Borghese (which is the biggest public park of Rome). Learn the bus routes. Taking taxi can be quite expensive, while crossing the entire Villa Borghese can result very tiring. However you want to visit Galleria Borghese, I assure you that it's all worth it!

Once we got into the museum the sights are spectacular. The ticketing staff was not friendly or helpful, only yelled at us for not having the right format of tickets. We figured it out, but definitely could have been a better visit with a small amount of help and not yelling at the visitors.

A must do in Rome! The museum is based on Ovid's Metamorphosis and each room is a masterpiece. Art as painting, sculpture and fresco adorn each section.

The museum offers an impressive collection of artworks in a calm and enjoyable atmosphere. A guided tour greatly enhances the experience, providing valuable insights into the exhibits. While the displays are outstanding, a more welcoming and helpful ticketing staff would make the visit even better.

Galleria Borghese is a must-see on any visit to Rome! Tickets are limited each hour, so the limited number of patrons at any one time makes the museum feel more intimate and gives you more time to experience the wonder or the beautiful baroque art. It may be a bit outside the city center, but it is by far my favorite museum in Rome!

AVOID HEADOUT TOURS - Headout’s Borghese Museum tour was a frustrating and poorly managed experience from start to finish. The booking process lacked transparency, with the tour subcontracted to a provider operating under two different names (Saints Tours and Tlight), creating confusion before the tour even began. On arrival, there was no clear signage, or identifiable guide, and I only located the group by chance with minutes to spare. Customer support was ineffective—Headout incorrectly advised that I didn’t have a guided tour despite my booking, and four repeated promises of follow-up from their support centre never materialised. Attempts to contact the local operator were equally unhelpful, with only an Italian-language recorded message available. Overall, the experience was disorganised, stressful, and poorly handled, with little regard for customer service. Based on this, I would not book with Headout again. The guide inside museum was good but the stress/ frustration to find group wrecked the experience.

The Gallery is impressive but I have never meant so rude staff in the tickets office - some staff training could do the place good !
